Atlanta Braves Place Charlie Morton on Injured List
Right-hander Experiencing Right Shoulder Inflammation
Morton Exits Early in Start Against Nationals
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Atlanta Braves have placed right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton on the 15-day injured list due to inflammation in his right shoulder. The move was announced on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
Morton, 39, exited his start against the Washington Nationals on Friday after just one inning. He allowed three runs on three hits and two walks before being removed from the game. The Braves are 8-12 in games started by Morton this season. The veteran pitcher signed a one-year, $15 million contract with the Braves last December.
No timetable has been set for Morton's return. The Braves will likely recall a pitcher from their minor league system to take his place in the rotation. The Braves are currently 82-51 and lead the NL East by 7.5 games over the New York Mets.
