Chelsea beat Aston Villa to book Women's Champions League quarter-final spot
Goals from Lauren James, Pernille Harder and Sam Kerr secured Chelsea's place in the Women's Champions League quarter-finals with a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.
Chelsea will face Lyon in the quarter-finals, after the French champions beat Juventus 3-1 in the last 16.
The Blues took the lead in the 25th minute when James fired home from close range after Harder's shot had been saved by Hannah Hampton.
Harder doubled Chelsea's lead in the 55th minute with a fine solo goal, before Kerr made it 3-0 in the 76th minute with a header from James' cross.
Substitute Rachel Daly pulled one back for Villa in the 83rd minute with a header from Kenza Dali's cross.
But it was not enough to prevent Chelsea from booking their place in the last eight, where they will face Lyon on March 21 and 29.
Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said: "I'm really pleased with the performance. We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we played with a lot of energy and intensity.
"We created a lot of chances and we could have scored more goals, but I'm happy with the way we played.
"We're looking forward to the quarter-finals. Lyon are a great team, but we're confident that we can beat them.
Aston Villa manager Carla Ward said: "I'm proud of the players. They gave everything they had and they made it difficult for Chelsea.
"We conceded some soft goals, but we never gave up and we kept fighting until the end.
"We're disappointed to go out of the competition, but we can take a lot of positives from this performance.
