Tyreek Hill and Calais Campbell among nine men arrested in Miami following fight
Pair taken into custody by Miami police
Detained on Tuesday night and later released
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and defensive end Calais Campbell are among nine men who were arrested in Miami on Tuesday night following a fight.
According to a police report, police responded to a call about a disturbance at a restaurant in the Miami Design District at around 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a group of men fighting in the street.
Police said the fight started after one of the men, later identified as Hill, allegedly pushed another man, later identified as Campbell, to the ground. Campbell then allegedly punched Hill in the face, and a fight ensued.
Police said they arrested Hill, Campbell, and seven other men who were involved in the fight. All nine men were taken to jail and charged with misdemeanor battery.
Hill and Campbell were later released on bond. The other seven men remained in jail as of Wednesday morning.
The Dolphins released a statement on Wednesday saying that they are aware of the incident and are gathering more information.
"We are aware of the situation involving Tyreek Hill and Calais Campbell," the statement said. "We are gathering more information and will have no further comment at this time."
Hill is one of the Dolphins' most important players. He was acquired in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in March and is expected to be a key part of the Dolphins' offense this season.
Campbell is a veteran defensive lineman who signed with the Dolphins in March. He is expected to be a key part of the Dolphins' defense this season.
The arrests of Hill and Campbell are a major blow to the Dolphins. The team is already dealing with a number of injuries, and the loss of two of their best players could make it difficult for them to compete in the upcoming season.
