Early Years
The Chicago Cubs were founded in 1876 as the Chicago White Stockings. They were one of the first professional baseball teams in the United States.
The White Stockings were very successful in their early years, winning the National League championship five times in the 1880s.
The Curse of the Billy Goat
In 1945, a man named William Sianis was told to leave Wrigley Field with his pet goat during the fifth game of the World Series.
Sianis cursed the Cubs, saying that they would never win another World Series.
The Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908.
Recent Years
The Cubs have had some success in recent years, winning the National League Central Division championship in 2016 and 2017.
They also made it to the World Series in 2016, but they lost to the Cleveland Indians.
