American Sprinter Noah Lyles Has Won The World Title In The 200 Meters At The Track And Field Championships

Noah Lyles Wins 200m World Title, One Step Closer to Olympic Sprint Double

American sprinter Noah Lyles has won the world title in the 200 meters at the track and field championships.

Lyles' time of 19.31 seconds bested Michael Johnson's previous record.

Lyles has been so dominant in the 200 meters that sleepwalking makes sense. At the Olympic trials in June, Bednarek ran a personal-best of 19.68 seconds, but Lyles still won by almost half a second.

After winning gold in the 100-meter dash on Aug. 4, American sprinter Noah Lyles returned to the track just one day later for the 200-meter race. He took the lead early on and never looked back, crossing the finish line in a time of 19.31 seconds.

This victory marks Lyles' first world title in the 200 meters. He is now one step closer to achieving his ambitions of an Olympic sprint double.
